What happened to Hope during these 8 years?

I'm always thinking about this subject, what happened to Hope during these 8 years? There're even rumors said that Hope took too much drug and died! I'm really sad to hear the rumor. But finally, when I see her announce new song Wild Roses in 2008, the rumor broken. But can anyone who close to Hope, give me some answers to my question?

I think people want to know these things about Hope because they respect her and love her music so much, and feel they can possibly draw inspiration for their own lives from how she lives hers. That's the case with me anyway. It's like......someone that makes this great, ethereal music......what do they do daily to arrive at all this amazing art. You just want to get tips on how to lead a fuller, more inspired life yourself, I think.
