Hope's Lyrics

Postby nekomey » Sat Oct 03, 2009 5:00 pm

I'd love to know how you all have interpreted Hope's lyrics for Through The Devil Softly. It's always interesting what people hear.

Here's mine of Trouble:

the trouble with the trouble is the trouble in me
i might be mistaken, might be forsaken
that sure could be

that seems like lust to me
i don't know what you think
the trouble is that the trouble says there's trouble in you

don't let me say that i just slipped away
and i just took the car and your keys

the trouble is the trouble says it's all troubling
don't talk to me if you're not on the leave
i'll never get to sleep

oh, those things you sent my way
i never saved a thing

don't let me say that i just slipped away
and i took the car and your keys
'cause the trouble is the trouble with me

That is how I hear it.

Do you know the meaning of this song?

What's the trouble?

I like this song a lot.

It's the writer's/musician's/band's prerogative to lyrics, right?
No doubt that part of the beauty of the mystery of Hope's Lyrics is that of keeping the mystery of the lyrics intact, no?
And also, they aren't necessarily literal lyrics, more like impressions, or flow of consciousness, or "poetry" (not to sound cheesy).
So! By saying all of this I guess what I mean is: is the reason the lyrics aren't printed because its all in keeping the "aura" or "essence" of the music pure, and unadulterated by 'the literal' or something of that nature? (keywords being "aura," and "essence"... wait, maybe I'm onto something?)
Forgive me if this is sounding a bit scattered, but for the sake of discussion, and the search for knowledge, or the lack of knowledge and satiation of something else entirely (emotional? spiritual even?):

What say you all?

... I do feel that there is much to be said about the idea that there is a lot of concept going on in the works, lyrics, composition, the way it is expressed, even how is relates to what we know of how Hope works/expresses from her person, the art, and all other facets of each album (and beyond) inclusive... Is this related do you think? Am I blabbering? Forgive me, for my tail is wagging ferociously
