BFB CD re-issue has a missing track

Postby rob68 » Wed Oct 07, 2009 10:19 pm

Nettwerk Records has been completely careless and Lose Me On The Way is missing from the BFB CD re-issue, even though it's listed on the back cover. Around My Smile is the last track that plays. Total playing time is 42:15, whereas the original CD is 50:04. The untitled instrumental is track 9, same as the old CD.

I would have never bought this had I known. I'm so disappointed. This is a rip-off and I want a refund.

Eek! Glad I bought an original release of "BFB" on eBay a while back.

Me too. As luck would have it, I've refrained from opening my re-issue of BFB so as to always have a pristine copy. Now I'll have to return it and order an "original" BFB off Amazon or something.

Thanks for the heads-up..
and then...

I just bought the new BFB album and mine is completely intact. Yours maybe scratched. Now BFB has a live sound quality to it so I'd buy a Hope live version of it and play it quite a bit too!

I just love "Thru the Devil Softly" !!

I had a couple e-mail exchanges with Kerri at Nettwerk Records, and she offered to mail me a corrected copy of the new BFB CD, but it's been 2 weeks now and still no CD. She also hasn't responded to an e-mail I sent her over a week ago.

This is the kind of thanks you get after buying the BFB re-issue CD and 2 copies of the Through The Devil Softly CD.

Today I received a new, unsealed copy of BFB in the mail directly from Nettwerk Records. It has the same mistake as the copy I bought a few weeks ago. Only 11 tracks, with no Lose Me On The Way on the disc.

I don't even know what to say. Either no-one checked the copy before it was mailed to me, or they are just not comprehending the mistake. I feel like I'm talking to a wall.

Colin, if you can somehow help out I'd appreciate it. You did say before that you were looking into this.

I have an original copy of "BFB", and I am just realizing a track listing mix-up...

There are 12 tracks, total, but some tracks are incorrectly listed (when I load the CD into my computer and open it on iTunes). "Around My Smile" and "Lose Me On The Way" are incorrectly listed with other titles. "Sparkly" is listed as track 12, but it's actually "Lose Me On The Way".

I have no idea, now, what the track where she sings, "I've got a brand new machine..." is actually called.

Help! :?:

Apparently.... CD track 9 is "untitled", and thus the digital mix-up. Tracks 9-12 all messed up.

and yeah - "Sparkly" ain't on the album even though it's listed as track 12.

Here's what my "BFB" playlist looks like when I pop it into my computer/iTunes:

... and I know. Vinyl was always the true medium. I just got lazy!

REgarding the above iTunes screen grab...

Track 10 is actually the mystery "untitled track".
Track 11 is in reality "Around My Smile"
Track 12 is in reality "Lose Me On The Way"

"Sparkly" is not on the disc.

i think there are 2 tracks listed there for bavarian fruit bread ( the track that is ) ... or at least as i understand it ... as there is a short organ intro that runs into it that i think may have been listed separately on your list as 1:21 in duration

let me have a listen to my definitive format and medium !

okay as i understand it this is side 2

charlotte 4:34
clear day 6:11
bavarian fruit bread ( 1:21 and 4:10 )
around my smile 4:41
lose me on the way 7:42

i always took the the short intrumental to be part of bavarian fruit bread ... although that may not necessarily be the case ... when i look at the vinyl it is demarcated as a distinct track although there is less time between it and the next part than between the other tracks on the record although that could either be an unintentional mastering issue or just because it made sense during mastering to do that

but looking at side 1 we have a similar almost symmetrical situation but the short instrumental is named baby let me

so it could go either way and im undecided now

could we get a definitive from hope and colm ?

I always took that short piano "interlude" as a separate entity in and of itself. I never really made a connection with it and "Bavarian Fruit Bread".

Just realized I was thinking of the piano interlude that precedes "Feeling Of Gaze". It runs for just over 1:00. Not sure what track that is officially part of, or if it is a stand-alone track which did not receive its own track listing. :?:

I prefer that Hope retains her mass appeal on the "limited" scale she now enjoys - and I am sure she does, too. If she had wanted it to be any different, she could have had it. I am sure some greedy record execs would have LOVED to turn her into a little sex kitten - and they could have(!). She's sexier than Lady Ga Ga, Beyoncé, Britney Spears, etc, etc. all put together.

And yes... I used this discussion to listen to "BFB" all the way through a couple times since last night - and I also just had a listen to "TTDS" to round-out my morning!

the 1:21 interlude that comes before Bavarian Fruit Bread is in fact a track from the previous song, Clear Day. If you turn your stereo up loud for about the first second of it, you can hear the guitar parts from Clear Day, which are quickly faded away, leaving just the organ sound. After listening to 1:21, go back and listen to the end part of clear day, and you'll hear it mixed in there.

Funny that the BFB reissue has a missing track; i almost bought a copy to go with the 2 copies of the original pressing I already own. I always found it odd how they messed up the track listing, even on iTunes, how amateurish!

But damn, Bavarian Fruit Bread (the song) just kills me, what an awesome lyric, it would make a great country song. As one of you mentioned about the way she says "Cry", its the second time she says it that's really special, along with the kick drum, the way they hit at just the right time, it just kicks me right in the gut, it's a golden moment, amazing. Strangely though, i don't hear it that way every time.

Exactly! I've always considered the instrumental interlude to be the refrain of Clear Day. You just have to notice the similarity in melodic structure to realise this.
