I tried to meet her. I went early to hang outside the show just in case. I am pretty sure I saw Hope walk inside with her hair up. I didn't want to run up to her because she had security escort her in. There was a nice fellow from the band who when I asked his brother if she'd sign something for me, told me that he'd ask his brother. His brother came out, he's in the band, and told me they were doing soundcheck and would ask her after. So he did and then came back out and got my cd covers signed. He told me he could do that or I could wait for her after the show to meet her but i'd miss the last bus back to my city so I couldn't. I am very grateful to him however. I believe he was a fellow from Ireland. It was my first time ever seeing Hope live so i'm not sure of band members names.
I have to admit I didn't want to write a review, even though someone asked me to, because I was disappointed. I guess like you say I shouldn't have high expectations but i've met people such as Keanu Reeves (who was in a band) and KT Tunstall who actually take the time to come out and meet their fans either before the show or after. I understand if she's shy, I suffer from social anxiety myself, but I was a little let down. On top of that I called the venue ahead of time to ask if cameras were allowed, my intention being filming a couple of my favourite songs, no photography as I know she doesn't like it. The venue told me it was ok and when I got there there were signs up saying no cameras, no photography, no video. Normally that club has no problem with video as i've seen other artists live there before. During the show someone tried to snap a couple pictures of Hope and so she started pointing at them (very Diva in my honest opinion) and so she had one of her security guards tell them off. When they tried again when Hope was turned, the security guard flashed a flashlight at them. Speaking of lighting, the show's lighting was very bad. For those in the back or even in the middle, you cannot see what you are watching. It's pretty much equivalent to blasting your stereo system at home. Don't get me wrong, I still love her voice I just don't like the personality I see behind it. So that being said, I don't plan on attending another show. I know there are many here that thrive at just listening but now with this economy, I expect more for a live SHOW.
