Can't wait to hear the new album!

I know two different release dates have been given. I would guess September 15th is the correct one, but do let us know when you find out something definite.

I can't wait either.

I'm so glad Wild Roses is going to be on the album. I bought the MP3 a while back, but have been aching to get an uncompressed version of it. That song fits into my conception of 'their sound' based on the previous album. Blanchard on the other hand, that took me by surprise. It actually reminds me more of Mazzy than the Warm Intentions in overall presentation ... yet still ... different.

I can't express how excited I am to hear the rest.

It's looking more like September 29th, according to Hope's My Space & Facebook pages.

Colin, have you been able to confirm from Colm that there will be a physical CD release for Hope's new album? Any definite release date info would also be appreciated. Thanks!

Been looking all over the net and have yet to see any info on the format in which the new album will be released.
I am hoping for a physical cd release, something to hold in my hand and look at the artwork.

I'm really excited about this new album.

Watching and listening to Blanchard on YT right now.............SUBLIME...the psychedelia's still there in Hope's beautiful voice....I was worried that maybe she had lost that somehow:):) Can't wait for the CD to come out :)

Mix one part Jim Morrison with a splash of Audrey Hepburn, roll it around in a spot of LSD, wrap it in a ghost story with silver ribbons and you've got Blanchard- great tune.

Not the best blog writting, but here was my review of the new CD:

http://davesgoonernews.blogspot.com/2009/09/hope-sandoval-warm-inventions-through.html

I sort of repeat and write words that aren't real, so it's really just me saying how I feel about the songs and the CD.

Even though I had already heard the whole CD - got my copy today and quite happy to support the band and hope that they don't wait so long to put out another one. :D

The hint of a Mazzy Star CD is nice - hope it cpomes through.

I'm really diggin this on one - just listening here at work while I review documents - such a nice soothing sound to have on in the background.

I've listened to it twice now (since yesterday evening when I finally found a copy), and I love it. I've got favorites already.... "For The Rest Of Your Life" is, for me, the most interesting and "different" tracks. I heard them play it at Hollywood Forever last week, and I was like, "Hmmmm! This is a strange song!", and I was really curious to hear how the recorded version would sound. I really like it.

Will listen again on the way home from work.

Through The Devil Softly is a great follow-up to Bavarian Fruit Bread but still a little disappointing. With other Hope Sandoval albums, I always felt a sense of progression from the previous release but not so with this one - it feels more like a slight backwards step. Although the material itself is up to her usual standards there is, unfortunately, one filler track (quite rare for a Hope Sandoval release).

Everytime I listen to Trouble, I'm always reminded of Jism by Tindersticks. It's also interesting to learn that this is the only (and possibly first) band credited track. Personally, I would have preferred this 'jam' as a b-side, as it affects the overall quality of the album. I also found Satellite a bit awkward at first but have grown to really love it. And what happened to the experimental / MBV-esque flourishes that made On the Low, Around My Smile and Lose Me On the Way so wonderful?

Through The Devil Softly is still a brilliant album but it's also her first release that has left me a little unsatisfied - to me, it could have been a tad better.

Personal favourites: Wild Roses, Lady Jessica and Sam, and Blue Bird.

I think TTDS is the sort of album you have to get under your skin gradually. The very 1st time I listened to it, I was like a little worried Hope had lost some of her magic, but as the songs came on.....esp the 3rd listen....I realized the magic was still there. Personally, I would have liked a more electric album, but then again each artist opts for a more acoustic sound along the line. In conclusion, Hope has NOT ripped off her die-hard fans with TTDS, like many other "artists" have done sometime along the line of their careers :)
